WASHINGTON, D.C.--General James L. Jones (USMC Ret.), president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, and Karen Harbert, the Institute's executive vice president and managing director, will participate in the June 22 summit of oil producing and consuming nations and corporate leaders in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia.

The summit brings together energy ministers and heads of state from 38 major oil producing and consuming countries, CEOs and executives of leading oil companies, and international energy organizations.

“Energy is one of the greatest challenges of this century and no single solution by any one country can address it. The world needs leadership from governments and businesses. Input from the private sector is critical to addressing the world’s growing energy demand,” Gen. Jones said. “Through international engagement at the Saudi summit, the Institute will champion global solutions to help bring the energy market into balance.”

The Institute is representing the International Energy Agency's Industry Advisory Group. Through public education and grassroots advocacy, the Institute for 21st Century Energy is working to unify energy stakeholders and policymakers behind a common strategy to ensure that America's supply of fuels and power is adequate, diverse and affordable while protecting national security and improving the environment. The U.S. Chamber is the world's largest business federation representing more than 3 million business organizations of every size, sector, and region.
