Karen Harbert, president and CEO of the U.S. Chamber’s Energy Institute, issued the following statement regarding today’s vote on S.953, the Offshore Production and Safety Act of 2011:
“The Senate vote on today’s energy bill was a missed opportunity to address America’s stagnant economy and growing energy insecurity. The Senate failed to advance a bill that would have produced more American energy and created thousands of jobs. One would hope that the high gasoline prices currently burdening families and businesses would serve as a call to action, as it did in the House, but unfortunately the Senate is off to a disappointing start.”
