WASHINGTON, D.C. – Matthew Koch, vice president at the U.S. Chamber’s Institute for 21st Century Energy, issued the following statement regarding TransCanada’s submission of the proposed Keystone XL pipeline from Canada to Nebraska: “TransCanada’s latest application to build a 1,200 mile portion of the Keystone XL pipeline from Alberta to Steele City, Nebraska will move us closer to thousands of jobs and increased energy security for America. TransCanada is working with the state of Nebraska to develop a path forward for the pipeline through that state which will be finalized this fall, meaning that the Obama Administration can no longer credibly use Nebraska as an excuse to deny any part of the pipeline permit. “The Keystone XL pipeline project has been studied extensively, with the administration itself determining that it posed no significant environmental risk. We call on the Obama Administration to expedite their review of TransCanada’s application so that Keystone can start meeting America’s significant need for reliable energy as soon as possible.” |
